Starting out as a specialized foreign-language printer, our strong focus on R&D brought us in 1985 to an early recognition of the potential of digital technologies. In the years since, we have built up considerable expertise in digital approaches—as we introduced DTP techniques to full-color Japanese printing, and developed support for a wide range of media.

The integration of print technologies and interactive communication represents a true sea change. Regardless of the technologies, however, I think that the starting point for achieving effective communication must always be to stand in the customer's shoes.

Our work takes many forms—from printed matter to CD-ROMS to the building of systems. Regardless of form, however, the main goal is always the same: to discover the customer's problems, and to work together to find the solutions. This is the starting point in all of our businesses.
